Treating People with Parkinson’s Well

Study Day

In this interactive one day workshop, Thorpe’s Neuro Rehab will teach you how to support your patients with Parkinson’s to live well.

  • Experience a Parkinson’s exercise class – let’s get puffy
  • Keynote lectures include:
    • The science behind exercise for people with Parkinson’s
    • Delivering Parkinson’s services
    • The importance of good nutrition in Parkinson’s
  • Practical workshops:
    • Cueing technique
    • Tai Chi
    • Progressions/regressions
    • Dual tasking
    • Outcome measures

This is going to be a fun and interactive day where therapists working with people with Parkinson’s can share ideas and practices so that we can best support this vibrant community.

Speakers include:

  • Beccy Oliver: Co-chair Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network Exercise Hub and therapist to local PD branches
  • Annie Rainbow: Founder of Annie Rainbow Neurophysiotherapy and contributor on the Fighting Fit course
  • Caroline Bicheno: Clinical Specialist Neuro Physio with MSc in Human Nutrition and PGCert in Sports Nutrition
  • Jenny Walker: Clinical Specialist Neuro Physio and Co-director of Thorpes Neuro Rehab
  • Sonya: Senior Neuro Physio with a special interest in adapted Tai Chi for people with Parkinson’s
  • Dr Stern: Consultant Neurologist at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust

Thorpes Neuro Rehab provide a variety of specialist Parkinson’s services including an educational programme of treatment called PD MOT, hydrotherapy classes for people with Parkinson’s and specialist land based classes.
