Pushing to Improve Understanding, Recognition and Rehabilitation of Post-stroke Lateropulsion

 

North East ACPIN are delighted to invite you to the above Hub lunch and learn webinar event.

Presenter:

Dr Jessica Nolan is a Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research) at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia and an Australian Physiotherapy Association Titled Research Physiotherapist. She completed her PhD focusing on lateropulsion (pushing behaviour) in December 2023, supported by a Raine Foundation/Western Australian Department of Health Clinician Research Fellowship and continues to progress research focusing on improving outcomes for people with lateropulsion after stroke.  Jessica has a clinical background as a stroke rehabilitation physiotherapist, having worked in a public inpatient stroke rehabilitation unit for many years, before undertaking research.  She is a current member of the World Stroke Organisation Future Leaders Program, Secretary of the Australia and New Zealand Stroke Organisation Emerging Stroke Clinician Scientist Committee, and a member of the Stroke Foundation Living Guidelines Physiotherapy Working Party.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand and define lateropulsion
  2. Understand tools to identify and measure lateropulsion post-stroke
  3. Understand the significance of lateropulsion, in terms of short-term and long-term rehabilitation outcomes
  4. Understand current best-practice management for lateropulsion
  5. Discuss future research needs and knowledge gaps regarding lateropulsion post-stroke.
