The committee have organised three and a half study days and one evening lecture since October 2015 after suggestions made by its members. They have been hosted in Haywards Heath, Eastbourne, Worthing and Bexhill.
In October 2015 we had an evening talk about post polio syndrome and implications for other long term conditions given by Clare Hall, highly specialist neuro physiotherapist, with patient experience.
In April, the 2016 AGM took place with a study day on balance and dizziness. The teaching was given by two specialist neurorehab consultants and a physiotherapist working in this field and covered specific aspects of assessment and treatment of vision and vestibular system, also some examples of physiotherapy treatment techniques for ABI patients were practiced.
In May 2016 we organised Bobath Module 2 as a request and follow up for the Module 1 we had run previously, both taught by Ann Holland. This was a one and a half day intense module with strong practical elements to support the theory and gave opportunities for participants to practice their handling skills.
In September 2016 we organised a study day on exercise and fitness after stroke run by Laterlife training, presented by Bex Townsley. This was also fairly practical day which gave participants opportunity to do some role play and find out about local classes for stroke victims.
For November 2016 we had an evening talk and case study on FES.
Events in 2017 included:
• Movement disorders by Michelle Long, highly specialist neuro physiotherapist – 18th March 2017
• Bobath module 3, by Helen Linfield (to be confirmed) – May 2017
• Neuro-aquatic therapy By Jackie Pattman
• Facial weakness and swallowing (MDT) – likely date 30 September 2017
We are looking for interested neurophysiotherapists living or working in Sussex to join the committee and if possible take on some roles, eg the treasurer, in the committee in future. If you are interested in please contact Anne Eisenthal on the link below
