The Sussex ACPIN committee organised four study events for their members since the last AGM in March 2017. These study days were hosted in Haywards Heath and in Firwood House in Eastbourne. Unfortunately one of the planned events -the Module 3 for the Bobath training course due to have been taken place in May 2017- had to be cancelled because of the lack of participants.
In March 2017 AGM took place with a study day on movement disorders. The teaching was given by highly specialist neurophysiotherapist Michelle Long. This was very interesting day full of theory of movement science with clinical applications including some group work by participants. Feedback from the event was very positive. Thank you Jenny and Anne for organising this event.
In September 2017 we run a half day on research titled ‘The research journey of multiple Sclerosis Aqua Research Team (MSART)’. We had five different speakers from the research team and from Brighton University. The event was very interactive and helped to build up links between Sussex Acpin and Brighton University. Many thanks to Kishore Garipati from the University for helping me to organise this event.
At the end of September 2017 we organised a study day on Facial weakness and swallowing presented by Katriona Neville and Vanessa Venables, highly specialised therapists from London. The day was very interactive with lots of practical and participants felt that they learned lots of useful new skills to take home and use with suitable patients. Thank you Lindsay for organising this event.
In November 2017 we run a study day on Rocktaping. This was mainly practical day learning about the use of rocktape for various clinical indications and practicing application of the tape over different parts of the body. It was very well attended and enjoyed day by all participants. Thank you, Norah, once again for your amazing efforts and contributions for the organisation of this event, when you yourself were not even able to attend.
