We have had a reduction in our committee currently due to maternity leave and our treasurer Claire Robinson moving out of area. Anna Ziemer has taken up the role of treasurer. Therefore, anyone interested in joining the Manchester ACPIN committee please do not hesitate to get in contact.
In 2016 we had two evening events. Early in the year we had an interesting and stimulating presentation by Sarah Tyson on the evidence base for gait training in neuro-rehabilitation. Sarah has also kindly agreed to present more of her work in 2017. Later on in the year we had a thought-provoking presentation by Louise Connell on her Practise Project giving us plenty to think about regarding the challenges of getting evidence into practice. We also held a study day on the evidence base for therapeutic handling. This was a joint collaboration with Manchester University with Deborah O’Connor providing a very well received day with lots of ideas for further study days being generated. We hope to be able to collaborate with Manchester and other universities in our area in the future.
Plans for 2017 are developing with two study days planned; the first on a review of Saebo products and the second a practical study day on splinting of the lower limb. We are awaiting final confirmation of dates and then these will be advertised. We also have another evening lecture planned by Sarah Tyson.
We have also planned a study day for 2018 on the neurological shoulder with Jo Gibson. In short, lots to look forward to. Any ideas for future events from our members are always welcome.
